PML Kalyanasundaram

Through his life, P.M.L.Kalyanasundaram has always been a person fighting for people rights. Over the years he has lent his voice to a number of issues for the people of Kalapet. He has been instrumental in bringing in more projects to Kalapet Constituency during his tenure as a MLA of Kalapet Constituency.

He was born as the third son to Mr.N.Periyannan @ Thangavelu and Mrs.Muthulakshmi on 16th July 1977. Hailing from a middle class agricultural family and having more interest in farming, P.M.L.Kalyanasundaram started working in his father’s agricultural land after completing his high school education in Government school. He also was a sports person in his school days and has represented his school in national level Volley-Ball competitions. Over a period of time he nurtured himself as an entrepreneur and prospered in the business of selling motor vehicle spare parts.

The call to serve the people of his constituency came to P.M.L.Kalyanasundaram in 2006. He contested the Legislative assembly on behalf of Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) in Lawspet (Integrated part of Lawspet & Kalapet). With no political or financial background he managed to get 10365 votes. Though he lost his first election he never lost the hope he had on his constituency people.

In 2008, he started a trust in the name of P.M.L.Kalyanasundaram Arakatallai, which primarily focused on fulfilling the basic needs of people of Kalapet Constituency. Mr.N.Rangasamy the ex-chief minister of Pondicherry was P.M.L.Kalyasundaram’s political role model and when he started a new political party All India NR Congress Party he enrolled himself as a member of the party and contested in the 2011 General Legislative Assembly Election from Kalapet Assembly constituency as a AINRC candidate and won by getting 14132 votes with an overwhelming margin of 6366 votes.

On June 08, 2011, the hon’ble Chief Minister Mr. N.Rangasamy made him as the second minister in his cabinet. He had the portfolio of transport, school education, higher education, information technology, sports and youth affairs. In the 2016 General Legislative Assembly Election, he contested in same Kalapet constituency as an independent candidate and lost by getting 9849 votes with a difference of 634 votes.

His love towards his constituency people keeps him work tirelessly for their welfare and well-being.
